Legislation requires that people intending to join the Club need to complete a Safety
Course run by instructors at Eastern Amateur.
The course covers Firearms Safety, theory and practical aspects of handling firearms
related to Pistol Shooting .
Courses are run over a 10 week period on Sunday mornings or on a mutually agreed
time with the instructors.
Once accepted for probationary membership to the Club new members will need to apply
at their local police station to obtain clearance from the Registrar of Firearms
prior to commencing any training.
When the Safety Awareness Course is completed satisfactorily the Club will notify
the police for issue of the appropriate Firearms Licence. There is then a waiting
period before any firearms may be acquired.
Members have access to further coaching within the Club and from affiliated groups
for beginning and advanced competitive pistol shooting.
